How To Develop Effortless
Self-Discipline
When most people talk
about self-discipline, they do so with a bored look in the eyes and a
monotonous voice.
They’ve got a point -
Self-discipline is NOT
sexy.
But while it isn’t the
sexiest skill, it sure is powerful.
Just look at the Chinese.
China has been around
since long before the time of Jesus, and long before many other societies began
and crumbled and yet... it’s still growing.
That’s what prompted
Napoleon Bonaparte, the famous French General, to say of China:
“Let her sleep, for
when she wakes, she will shake the world.”
The benefits of
self-discipline are clear.
If you had superhuman
self-discipline, you could easily do whatever it is you need to be successful -
no question, right?
Imagine waking up each day
and sticking to your schedule PERFECTLY, even getting more done than you
planned, and racing towards your goals in record time?
THAT’S what
self-discipline gives you.
Problem is,
self-discipline isn’t sexy, easy or fun, so most people never develop it or use
it.
Millions invest their
hard-earned money in self-help programs, courses and coaches, but only a small
percentage are ever actually successful.
Was there a problem with
the program?
I doubt it.
The reason most people
fail isn’t because whatever programs they’re following don’t work.
The reason most people
fail is because they don’t have the self-discipline to follow through until the
end... until they’ve achieved their vision.
But what if there was a
way to cultivate self-discipline so that you could effortlessly deploy it
whenever you needed to?
That would be a magical
world, wouldn’t it?
Turns out, there IS a way
to cultivate self-discipline so you can effortlessly deploy it whenever you
need it, just like the Chinese have done for thousands of years to build their
massive empire.
The trick to effortless
self-discipline is treating it like a muscle.
If you go to the gym, you
don’t go straight for the heaviest weights because you know you’ll get injured.
Instead, you go for the
light weights, and you gradually work up to the heavier weights as you get
stronger.
Cultivating effortless
self-discipline is the same.
You have to start light,
and gradually work your way up to heavy “weights”.
Here’s how this works in
reality:
Instead of trying to work
for 3 hours of total focus, aim for just 15 minutes.
For 15 straight minutes,
don’t check Facebook. Don’t check email. Don’t surf the web. Don’t do anything
other than
work.
The next day, bump it to
20 minutes, then 25 minutes the day after, and so on until you’re easily
focusing for an entire day.
Also, practice doing small
things well, because the way you do the little things is how you do the big
things.
If you don’t brush your
teeth or floss every day, you’re skipping a small habit that is quite easy to
do (takes less than 5 minutes) and skipping this habit means you’re cultivating
a lack of self-discipline in other areas of your life.
In other words...
...if you can’t get
yourself to brush your teeth every day,
what hope do you have of
making more money, getting out of
debt, building a business
and creating your dream lifestyle
and money for retirement?
Try it for yourself.
Treat self-discipline like
it’s a muscle you have to grow.
Over time, you’ll find
that your self-discipline “muscle” gets stronger and stronger until one day,
you’ll find yourself doing whatever it is you need to do effortlessly, just
like the Chinese Emperors did when they were building their empire.
Now -
While this process works,
there’s more to “effortless self-discipline” than simply brushing your teeth
every day.
That’s why, when I was in
China, I collected every strategy and tactic I could find that related to
effortless self-discipline.
And now, all of these
strategies and tactics are available to you, so YOU can develop “effortless
self-discipline” yourself.
